Registration

Why we ask for registration?

Each week we remind you that students have to be registered to attend youth on a regular basis. This is part of our Plan to Protect system. If you have never taken time to fill out an official form to register your child, it is important that you do so. Please contact us if there is any confusion or trouble doing this online.

Serve With Rooted
If you are a recent graduate, young adult, or not-so young adult, we would invite you to consider joining our team of mentors and leaders.

There are several opportunities to help, including:

  • Leading a small group of students
  • Teaching
  • Running games
  • Helping plan and co-ordinate special events
  • Transportation for special events
  • Prayer group co-ordinators

Our desire is to attract students, meet them at their level, and challenge them to meet with God and know his love on a whole new level.  If you have a heart for young people and are interested in joining the team, do not hesitate to fill out our online Youth Volunteer Application or contact Mark Mowbray to get connected.

Pastor Mark Update - July 10

Coming Up:

Over the next few weeks for your students:

1. Another gift bag delivery: Sometime in the next couple weeks youth leaders should show up at your house to drop off a little gift bag to let your students know they are loved and being prayed for. WE NEED YOUR HELP! IF you student/child did NOT receive a bag last time that means that we do not have your correct address or there is some kind of miscommunication. PLEASE let
Ciara Poku  or Pastor Mark know if your child/student did NOT receive a bag.

2. A small group year end celebration: We have asked all small group leaders to take initiative to get their small groups together to find different ways to be together safely at this time. When the youth leaders are trying to set this us please encourage and support your child to be a part of this.

Summer Ministry:

As things continue to open up and change week to week we will adjust accordingly.  As we said last week; we think it’s important that two things happen this Summer. First, for our students have consistent time with friends and regular places to be encouraged through the Word of God. (Our prayer and plan is that we use a hybrid model to continue to be together as a community of faith) Second, our students to have a place to be “living out” their faith and learning to serve and BE a Christ follower.

This is our plan right now:

Being on point:

As our world has been rapidly changing the last few months with Covid, the world of youth was already ahead of the curve as they are always experiencing life at a quicker pace. One area that has been constant over the last decade is “extended adolescence”. In simplest terms this means that our children are reaching puberty and mature decisions earlier and our young adults are launching later and staying at home longer.
As the pastor of youth and young adults this means that I am regularly listening to God and seeking His face for how best to join Him in coming alongside parents and young adults so that youth and young adults are exposed to the truth of the Gospel, introduced to the Lord Jesus and discipled through their faith.

Starting this Fall we will taking the next steps in building a disciple making ministry for the youth and young adults in a few areas:

  • Ages for our Junior & Senior High youth are being looked at and we are considering the best way to meet the needs of children who are becoming youth earlier. (More on this over the Summer)
  • Our Young Adults ministry will be advertised as being from 18 – 30. (Previously 18 – 25)
  • Small Groups will become more prominent.

Brief Explanation:

  • Ages for our Junior & Senior High youth are being looked at and we are considering the best way to meet the needs of children who are becoming youth earlier. (More on this over the Summer). Should we start a new ministry age group to meet the TWEEN segment?  Should we have a transitional year? Nothing radical will be happening but we need to ask questions to keep ministering effectively.
  • Our Young Adults ministry will be advertised as being from 18 – 30. (Previously 18 – 25) The other end of our spectrum, especially in large urban centres like Brampton, will be addressing the need to come alongside our young adults who are still studying, starting careers and are just heading out on their own.
  • Small Groups will become more prominent in all age groups. The idea of meeting in smaller groups apart or during  the larger ministry group is nothing new. The idea of making these smaller groups more missional with stronger disciple making leadership is a move towards more intentional reproducing ministry. Without a long treatment about philosophy of ministry, this simply addresses the fact that we grow best in groups of 6 – 12 where we trust and can journey with the people. The Junior High and Senior high groups will be gender and age specific with a leader and LIT in each group. The young adults will be more age and stage of life affinity groupings.
