Mercy Care Response

Our church is launching a new Mercy Care Response initiative to help meet urgent needs when natural disasters and calamities strike around the world. When a crisis happens, our church family can give quickly and directly to support relief efforts and share God’s love in practical ways.
🇯🇲 Jamaica Crisis Response
Give Here

On Tuesday, October 28th, Hurricane Melissa devastated the western part of Jamaica and the Smiths were in the eye of the storm. They, along with their disabled daughter who is also non-verbal, and Kingsley's ailing mother who lives with them, moved to the basement to ride out the storm. Sadly, the rooves of their house and the church building were destroyed during the storm; their animals were killed; and most of their personal possessions, money, and passports are gone. Before they even had time to deal with their own personal losses, they began coming to the aid of many from the community who were reaching out for help.

FAIR immediately responded to this need by releasing support from our Where Needed Most fund and began building a relief project in partnership with both churches. Since then, many of our Fellowship churches with family and friends in Jamaica have contacted us as well, asking how we can come together to rebuild and encourage this community.

Please prayerfully consider joining us in rebuilding the devastated communities in western Jamaica through our local body of Christ.

Richard Silvister
Serving in:  the GTA and Ontario
With: OM (Operation Mobilization Canada)

Ministry:
Richard is an evangelist reaching out to people with the Good News of Jesus in the GTA.  Richard’s particular passion is to see “cousins” come to know Jesus and other unreached people groups.  His vision is to win them for Christ and to disciple them.  His vision is also to train others to do the same.  With so many unreached people groups coming to Canada, especially to the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), it is critical to tell them the Good News.

Richard, and those working with him, reach out to unreached people in the GTA through a variety of means including – street evangelism, book tables in many places - visiting mosques and temples, getting involved in sports events (cricket and soccer), giving away books and other literature and DVD’s, and using every possible means and opportunity to let people know about the love of God for them.

Richard volunteers part-time as a chaplain at Toronto Pearson Airport.

How can you help?:

Pray.  Contact Richard to join the Prayer Partner list and to receive prayer updates.

Partners International - Peru
Ministry:
Misión Integral Nativa del Perú (MINAP), translated The Holistic Tribal Mission of Peru, based in Pucallpa Peru is the country’s first mission agency led by tribal people, whose focus is the evangelization of Peruvian Amazon peoples in southern and central Peru. MINAP was established in 2003 by a group of visionaries, key tribal leaders, who wanted to send missionaries to the least reached areas of the Peruvian Amazon. Tribal leaders and representatives from most of the major institutions working in the jungle, elected and commissioned a board to appoint leadership to the ministry.

The establishment of MINAP was in response to:

1. A declining foreign mission presence among Amazon peoples.
2. Compassion for the desperately poor tribal groups enslaved by fear and oppression.
3. A vision to reach out to uncontacted peoples who have not heard the good news of God’s love.

Partners International actively advises and consults the MINAP ministry. We believe that MINAP has what it takes to succeed as a mission. Financial support from Canada contributes to their accomplishments. Above all, the ultimate success of MINAP is because of the hearts of their leaders, their desire to reach their own people and their dedication to the Lord.

Nathan & Liana Deboer

With:
MSC Canada

Ministry:
Nathan & Liana are on a mission in Malawi, Africa, where they work to spread the gospel to the unreached while empowering smallholder farmers with regenerative agriculture techniques. Moreover, supporters are invited to contribute to their famine relief project fund. With this support, they plan to provide 400 needy individuals with drip bucket irrigation systems. Through comprehensive training in sustainable agriculture and personal gospel sharing, they aim to uplift these communities. This project will span two years, with diligent follow-ups to ensure a sustainable impact for each group. Together, they hope to make a lasting difference for the most vulnerable.

Church Planting Ambassador to Arabic Communities
Partners International - Cuba
Ministry:
The nation of Cuba is in economic disarray with shortages of food, medicine and fuel. Hundreds of thousands of people have fled the country to escape the hopeless living conditions including many church leaders. This leadership drain has been a big blow to the church which was in revival. It It is still illegal in Cuba to preach in public and no churches are allowed to be built, yet the church is on fire. In recent years, our partner the Convención Bautista de Cuba Oriental has rapidly grown to more than 550 churches, many planted by untrained Cuban lay missionaries.
The church's two big needs are (1) support for missionaries and (2) training for lay missionaries so that healthy churches can be established that will withstand government opposition and undermining by cults which are rampant.
Ministry focus

Partners International has worked together with the Baptist Convention for many years on a wide range of projects but our focus is working with the Mission Department to train and support missionaries.

Dan & Melody Grove
Serving in: Bambalang, Cameroon
With: Wycliffe Bible Translators

Ministry:
We are leading a Bible Translation project targeting 10 languages on the Ndop Plain, NW. We have been in Cameroon since January 2000. Two languages are nearing the completion of the NT. We are targeting to have most of the other NT drafts completed by the end of 2018. The linguistic work should be finished up in 2019 and we have worked on creating sustainable literacy programs in each of the languages. Our current team includes several missionaries, 5 Cameroonian colleagues and around 19 local language translators.

Prayer Needs:
Pray for the completion of the New Testament drafts and then the 2-3 year work in finishing the texts for publishing. Satan does not want the Word to come to these people groups. Pray for our multi-cultural team, that we would continue to work together in harmony and towards a common goal. Pray for a sustainable long-term structure that will allow each of the language groups to move into Old Testament translation as they desire. Pray for political peace and stability in our area.

Country Information:
Cameroon is in central Africa between Nigeria and Chad. It is the only other English/French bilingual country in the world and has a population of around 18 million. It is rich in natural resources and yet has many of the same struggles that most African countries have. There is a current crisis in the Anglophone areas

Steve & Jacquie Wilson
Serving in: Japan
With:
Fellowship International

Ministry:
Our main ministry is at Christian Academy in Japan, a school established for the children of missionaries. We both serve on the leadership team of the school. Steve is the facilities coordinator. Jacquie is the elementary school principal until June, 2018 and will be the director of school support services (supporting homeschooling families across Japan and affiliate schools in the area of educational consulting) from July, 2018.

Our secondary ministry is involvement in church plant in downtown Tokyo. Steve serves on the
leadership council and worship team. Jacquie is involved with the welcome team and discipleship.

Steve has an evangelistic/friendship ministry to the jet skiing community, a subculture in Japan.

Prayer Needs:
  • For the work of Christian Academy of Japan to fulfill it’s mission to “equip students to serve Japan and the world for Christ”.
  • For the people of Japan and the Christian workers who are sharing the gospel with this lost nation.
  • For God’s protection, blessing, growth in their lives and future direction for our daughters
  • For God’s protection, blessing and direction in Steve and Jacquie’s lives, marriage and ministry
Country Information:
Japan, a small country with a large population is still a nation with less than 1% evangelical Christian. A modern, fast paced society that is materialistic and focused on group mentality. The Japanese view Christianity as a foreign religion and one effective way to share the gospel is through their desire for meaningful relationships.
